135 - Metaphorical concepts in colloquial language and their use in the English class (Isabel Barranquero Sánchez).

This article deals with the pervading use of metaphors in our daily life and their useful application in the English class. We use metaphors to organise our thoughts and to understand our reality. Abstract concepts are understood in terms of other more simple images and schemes, and our emotions are as well described by means of metaphors. Students may find interesting this new use of metaphors which differ from the literary metaphor.
